Resumo
This paper discusses one of the most meaningful dimensions of Paulista Avenue in the city of São Paulo: its increasing occupation with political demonstrations, especially by professional categories such as bank employees, civil servants, teachers and steel workers, as well as other wider protests, like those in favor of Collor's impeachment, by the student sector's leardership. The main objective is to analyze the distinctive visibility acquired by these demonstrations, and consequently the importance of this Avenue in its public dimension in the metropolis.
