Resumo
This work computes the personal returns of the investments in education in Brazil. We use PNAD data and the methodology developed by mincer (1974). The main conclusions are: the (real) returns in education are extremely high, on the order of 16% per year; b) the returns of the secondary and college education are increasing along the period, while the rate of return of the second part of the primary school is decreasing (the rate of return on the first part of the primary school education shows no tendency); c) at the moment the highest return rates are on the secondary and on the first part of the primary education (1st to 4th years); d) the second part of the primary (5th to 8th year) presents return substantially less than all other education levels.
