Relações comerciais e cooperação econômica entre o Brasil e os Estados Unidos nos anos 2000

Resumo

The United States of America (USA) has been historicaly one of Brazil’s greatest partners, in both foreign trade and the bilateral relations. Althought changes in the Brazilian commercial and diplomatic profile have provoked alterations on the relations between the two countries, its importance remain central to Brazil’s international political and economic relations. In this sense, the purpose of this work is to analyse the relation between the two countries, with a focus on the macroeconomic and commercial aspects of the bilateral relations. Along the text, the profile of the Brazil-US economic relations during the last three decades of the 20th century (presenting the cycles of distancing and approximation between the two countries along the period), the evolution of these relations in the last 15 years (emphasizing the bilateral trade) and the development of the American-Brazilian political and economic cooperation in the 21st century (presenting the points of convergence and divergence between the two countries) will be addressed.
