Resumo

This work proposes to be a historical analysis of the question of subjectivity such as it has been understood since its inception from Descartes until Freud. It is not the history of a concept actually, but rather the historical approach of a broader area of matters with the individual and subjectivity as references. The text is divided into three parts. In Part I it is analysed the emergence of subjectivity as object of knowledge, and the effort of ·rationalism to identify it with the reason. Part II is concerning the empiricism approach and its psychological unfoldings. Part III is all concerned with the question of cleavage of subjectivity operated by psychoanalytical theory. The most immediate purpose of the work is to confront the various conceptions of subjectivity considered as one and identified with consciouness, with the conception as offered by Freud which implies a cleaved subjectivity and decentralization of reason. In the light of this purpose, the two initial parts of the work do not stand for a strict division, but are rather 50 divided for greater explanatory convenience. The broader purpose of the work, however, is the setting of the boundaries of the question of platonism that serves as tissue to the set of discourses which make up the text, including the psychoanalytical discourse.
