Resumo

This work has the intention to bring an historical analysis about Brazilian middle-class constitution, considering is as an effect of the industrializing process and the economic policies adopted since 1950. In parallel, this work expatiates how the urgency of ecological debate motivated some urban middle-class members to move from cities to rural areas to develop an agroecological living project. The proposal of changing their lifestyles presumes they have a critical position regarding the damage of the hegemonic model of consumption and hold particular capacity to make their projects feasibly, based on the material benefits and cultural privileges that have been widespread and accumulated by middle-class by many generations. A specific survey was conducted to complement the overall researches for this work and some selected people were interviewed about their urban exodus choices, believing on Agroecology fundaments and its practices able to share environmental sustainability and better human relationship, as the competitive values could be replaced per more cooperative character. Finally, their narratives expose a personal reconciliation with environmental issues and support some of the main contributions of this work, highlighting how some people from middle-class, who migrated to rural area, realize their own privileges and recognize their classes alignments. In addition, the limits of those agroecological individual projects are analyzed, trying to figure out if it is a real social change way.
