O comandante em marchaAmaral Peixoto e a indústria fluminense

Resumo

This thesis examines the web of elements related to the Rio de Janeiro industry during the administrations of Commander Ernani do Amaral Peixoto (1937-1945 / 1951-1955) and the policies adopted for the sector during this period. The study points to multiple reciprocal articulations between politicians, businessmen from different sectors, bankers, contractors, engineers and farmers, in addition to associating political and economic injuctions, social relations, the administrative machine and the aid from Brazilian diplomacy. The group led by the Commander was dedicated to the productive modernization and dialogued with multiple political-economic forces, we seek to unveil the role of those leaders in the implementation and development of the industrial park in Rio de Janeiro. Despite this, the character in question does not appear as a central object in literature on the region’s industry. Thus, within the limits of this study, the thesis aims to discuss the Amaral Peixoto governments and the industrial activity in State of Rio de Janeiro in order to contribute to fill the gap verified in the historiography of Rio de Janeiro’s industry.
