O bondinho de Santa Teresameio de transporte e patrimônio trilhando a memória e identidade do bairro

Resumo

This dissertation intends to analyze the cable car as a means of transport and cultural asset, as a constitutive element for the memory and identity of Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro, in order to achieve the production of senses, meanings and affections, mobilized by the Santa Teresa Residents and Friends Association - AMAST, in favor of reestablishing the tram system to the neighborhood after the accident that occurred on August 27, 2011. To do so, we will start with a historical panorama built from historiographical discussions, seeking to examine the installation context, maintenance and permanence of the tram in the Santa Teresa neighborhood. Then, we raised questions related to the tragedy involving tram number 10 and the consequent suspension of service and since that moment there was an intensification of the clashes between residents' association and the state government represented by the company that manages the system, the Transport and Logistics Engineering State Company - CENTRAL. We are interested, therefore, in the different interests in dispute, now in negotiation and agreement, now in confrontation and denunciation, in other words, the strategies and tactics adopted, the forms and arguments used to claim the resumption of trams on the tracks of Santa Teresa meeting political and economic demands, as well as social and cultural ones. And finally, we will analyze the limitations of the reach of the new tram system, considering the model of composition, route and cost, reflecting the gains and losses in the process of taking the tram based on reports of experience permeated with affection, nostalgia and resistance.
