Mulheres na direçãoum estudo sobre a liderança partidária feminina nos diretórios dos municípios do Estado do Rio de Janeiro

Resumo

Building on the assumption that party affiliation is a prerequisite for electoral candidacy and considering the significant changes in gender quota legislation over the past two decades, this study examines whether these reforms have affected party organizations at the municipal level in the state of Rio de Janeiro, leading to increased political participation among female party members. The analysis focuses on women’s presence in the presidency of municipal party branches and on the number of female candidates nominated, in order to test whether women-led parties nominate more women and whether these candidacies achieve greater electoral success. Ultimately, the study assesses whether parties chaired by women elect a higher number of female candidates. Additionally, in-depth interviews are conducted to identify the profile of female party presidents, examine the party structures in which they operate, and evaluate whether women candidates in women-led parties receive greater financial support.
