Resumo

The thesis focuses on the trajectory of Jaime Wright, an important representative in Brazil of the Presbyterian Church of the United States, especially between the 1960s and 1990s. It addresses his role in resource management so that left-wing Protestant militancy could act in Brazil enabling institutions such as the Ecumenical Service Coordination, the Ecumenical Center for Documentation and Information and the Institute for Religious Studies, supporting actions by names such as Jether Ramalho and Waldo César, in addition to their role in the Committee for Human Rights in the Southern Cone and in the Brazil Never Again project, a practice of action that he called "theology of breaches". The research also highlights how Jaime committed himself to the struggle for human rights, especially after the disappearance of his brother, Paulo Stuart Wright, in 1973, at the hands of the military in the country, and his partnership with the Catholic Church, through actions together with Dom Paulo Evaristo Arns. To this end, archives such as the Presbyterian Historical Society - The National Archives of the PCUSA were searched; interviews were carried out, as well as access to unpublished documents from the Jaime Wright’s collection.
