Intercultural capacitation and competence in business

Resumo

This paper summarizes the development of the field of international education and training, specialy in the United States. A preliminary discussion focuses on the need for its fast growth and shows the confidence deposited on its results in terms of cross-cultural efticiency both in business and academic inquiry advancement, which has been apparent since its early years. By familiarizing the reader with the potentialities of this field, the author intends to motivate students and academic institutions, mainly those engaged in management and business programs, as well as public and private ente rprises. to develop a pro-active attitude toward this still ignored area in Brazil. Such a change is expected to smooth negotiations and to promote competence in business, through intercultural understanding among people all over the country and the world.
