Resumo

With the stabilization of the Brazilian economy after the implementation of the real plan in 1994, which maintains control over the control and the basic interest rate of the economy at levels never before seen in Brazilian economic history, it was possible to systematically reduce the real interest rate. Added to this situation is greater banking inclusion promoted by class entities, government entities and greater availability of more complex financial products. This new context brought numerous challenges to the use of money, especially in relation to the management of the family’s budget. Families, whose consumer profile was present, now had to deal with a greater offer of credit and the management of these obligations in their monthly budget. On the other hand, families with a savings profile, which were used to obtaining high incomes from investing in low-risk assets, had to migrate their reserves to investments with a higher degree of risk, which brought uncertainty to their investment decisions. However, the process of Financial Education of the population did not follow the process of banking inclusion, bringing the need for greater promotion of Financial Education by Central Banks and other entities. Recently, we are seeing the BCB, CVM, Febraban, Ministry of Education and Anbima, among other entities, acting in the production of rules and good practices aimed at greater Financial Education and protection of small investors. Along the same lines, cooperative financial institutions, whose principles are aimed at greater educational interaction and relationship with the community, have developed numerous actions to provide greater promotion of financial literacy in their communities.
