Desenvolvimentismo nos anos JKuma proposta de exposição virtual a partir do acervo fotográfico da Agência Nacional

Resumo

This research originates with the interest of investigating the phenomenon of "developmentalism" from the perspective of visual culture, taking as its object the photographic production of the Agência Nacional in the context of Juscelino Kubitschek’s government (1956 to 1961). The work seeks to identify how the idea of development was visually expressed in the images produced by an official communication agency, under a government that had national development as its main political agenda. To this end, we analyzed photographs from the Presidentes da República series from the Agência Nacional’s collection, in correlation with keywords extracted from the Plano de Metas and the list of projects financed by the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico (BNDE) in the period. The results of this research were used to build a virtual exhibition which focus on promoting a broad discussion on the idea of development in the framework of the 1950s and the JK government, also paving the way for the public to establish connections with the meanings associated with the term today.
