Resumo
Given the difficulty of young people in finding a job and the relevance of severe unemployment for this group, this study aimed to measure the probability of occurrence of severe unemployment, that is, if they have been unemployed for 1 year and look for a job, among 16 to 29 years of age, based on data from the Continuous National Household Sample Survey for the second quarter of 2019. Through the Probit econometric model, it was possible to observe that young people aged between 18 and 24 years old, without education and those with complete or incomplete secondary education, living in the urban area, with retired people at home and located in the North and Northeast regions had the greatest chances of being in a situation of severe unemployment. There was also a negative relationship between the participation of at least one family member in the Bolsa Família Program and participation in learning programs about severe unemployment among young people.
