Resumo

This master’s thesis investigates how digital and media education contributes to the development of autonomy and critical thinking among high school students in the context of hyperconnectivity, from the perspective of students in the NAVE Program. The objective of the study is to understand how these young people consume, evaluate, and share information on digital social networks and how they perceive the role of school in the development of media skills. Methodologically, a qualitative approach was adopted, combining analysis of normative documents and public policies, socioeconomic and cultural diagnosis of students, and semistructured interviews with students and graduates of the program. The results indicate advances in critical awareness and information verification practices, but also reveal tensions between discourse and practice, strong influence of algorithms and proximity networks, as well as gaps in the systematic approach to the topic in school. As an applied product, the work presents a policy brief, based on direct listening to adolescents, which proposes recommendations for strengthening public policies on digital and media education in high school, contributing to the consolidation of critical and participatory digital citizenship.
