Resumo
Population aging poses major challenges to the development of age-sensitive smart cities. This article critically analyzes the conditions and constraints affecting the older population in São Paulo, in the context of rapid demographic aging and the increasing digitalization of urban services. Methodologically, it adopts an exploratory, theory-driven empirical approach based on literature review, document analysis, and secondary data (2022 Census, Municipal Urban Reports). The analysis is structured around five criteria: inadequate urban infrastructure, digital divide, territorial inequality, low representativeness of older people in urban data, and insufficient public transportation. The study proposes guidelines for integrated, age-sensitive urban policies, concluding that building a smart city requires technological innovation and public policies centered on equity, as well as active civic participation of older people in urban planning processes.
