This study was divided into two parts, the first being composed by a theoretical overview regarding the evolution of the innovation concept and its origin in the economic theory, its adoption as an organized and systematic process by companies, concluding with the main current discussion around it. In the second part, the nature of the study was empirical, through a research of multiple case studies, the Innovation Process could be scrutinized in terms of its facilitating and hindering aspects concerning its implementation in three Brazilian organizations.
