Resumo

This dissertation investigates the application of digital preservation principles within the personal realm of historical research, proposing a shift of traditional discussions, typically centered on institutional contexts, to the individual sphere of the historian. The study stems from the observation of a lack of in-depth analysis and the underutilization of computational resources for the maintenance of personal digital records, which are both fundamental research products and sources. The work is anchored in the premise, argued by various authors, that digital preservation is, above all, a practice that must make the best use of available resources to mitigate immediate risks, rather than a quest for technologically perfect solutions. Thus, the ultimate goal is to contribute to the development of a preservation culture among historians engaged with Digital Humanities, offering reflections that encourage the safeguarding of their own digital objects.
