Resumo

The research investigates the public policies of patrimonialization of the places of memory of the Circuito Histórico e Arqueológico da Celebração da Herança Africana (Historical and Archaeological Circuit of the Celebration of the African Heritage) in Cais do Valongo (Valongo Wharf), Rio de Janeiro, through the examination of the official documents of the process of its registration as Historical Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The analysis intends to reflect about the narratives of government policy documents to undestand how they are structured around themes already consolidated in recent historiography, such as the complexities of the identity issues of Africans who came to Rio de Janeiro as slaves, their ethnic diversity, the notion of african subject and the use of decolonial thinking. The research also analyzes how these themes and the concept of African Heritage is mentioned in the material from Oral History interviews made with Martha Abreu, Mônica Lima e Milton Guran, professionals who participated in the preparation of the Heritage Dossier and Ivanir dos Santos, Adailton Moreira e Pedrina de Lourdes Santos, representatives of the intangibles cultures heritage Bantu and Yoruba.
