Resumo
This work studies the impacts of technological advances of these days upon the various dimensions of society and its consequences for the State. The technological advances are grouped in five historical streams: information, transports, manufacturing, energy and biotechnology. The dimensions of the society are established as being: economical, social, political, technological and military. Using these technological streams as the components of the technological dimension we create framework for the analysis of the impacts from these technologies upon the other societal dimensions. The analysis of this impact matrix serves as basis to establish the main challenges and possibilities for the society and the State in the near future. Finally, the study of future possibilities is done through scenario technique, where two key variables are established, that result in four scenarios, which are presented in pictorial way.
