Resumo

This thesis investigates the extent to which the productive structure of the Integrated Development Region of the Federal District and Surrounding Areas and the Metropolitan Region Surrounding the Federal District supports or limits the Federal District's role as a logistics hub and supply chain coordinator. The analysis is based on microdata from the Annual Social Information Report and the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons, referring to the period from 2018 to 2024. The time frame adopted is based on criteria of methodological consistency and statistical comparability of the databases, ensuring homogeneity in the definition and structure of the variables throughout the series analyzed. This delimitation strengthens the analytical robustness of the study and allows the identification of recent structural patterns in the regional economy from a contemporary perspective. The data collected are combined with indicators of specialization, concentration, and productive diversity – Location Quotient, Specialization Coefficient, Krugman Index, Regional Diversity, Location Gini, and Sectoral Ubiquity – in order to characterize urban-regional dynamics and their structural resilience. The empirical results reveal a polycentric, heterogeneous, and functionally interdependent productive system, in which the administrative centrality of the Federal District is linked to diversified peripheral economies, with specializations in logistics, agro-industry, and mining and metallurgy. It is concluded that regional resilience and logistical efficiency depend on the articulation between specialization and productive capillarity, which reinforces the need for territorialized policies and integrated regional governance.
