Resumo
This paper examines the role of money in the definition of a monetary production economy, expression created by Keynes to distinguish his new economic paradigm from that serving as a foundation for Classical economics to which he referred as a 'cooperative' economy. In a monetary production economy money is non-neutral in the short as in the long period, meaning that monetaryfactors affect not only the level of employment but also the forms through which the community chooses to accumulate wealth. The fundamental postulates defining this type of economy are presented and the forms in which money is created and integrated into the system are explored with special attention being given to the question of the endogeneity of money.
