A conta que não fechauma investigação sobre os custos da Copa do Mundo FIFA 2014 com técnicas de jornalismo de dados

Resumo

The objective of this work was to investigate the final cost of the projects related to the 2014 World Cup, and the reasons why it was more expensive than initially planned. The research examined databases and documents related to the mega-event, using techniques typical of investigative journalism and data journalism. Interviews and consultations with public agencies and private companies complemented this material. The investigation indicated that organizational errors, irregularities in the works and failures of transparency hampered the understanding of the total resources applied. It is estimated that the promises related to the World Cup cost more than R$ 31.2 billion. The final product was a multimedia report accompanied by a database open to the public.
